The mission of Burrill-Ellsworth Associates is to foster quality and productivity in data processing. The purpose of this book is to lay the foundations for quality and productivity by addressing the application development area. The scope of the book is limited to the methods and procedures of application development. The objective is to provide practical information and guidance for accomplishing data processing projects. To meet this objective,the authors present the material in two ways. In the main part of the book (Chapters 1-20) they take a tutorial approach and describe, explain, and discuss various topics relating to project methodology. In the second part (Appendices A-D) they use a handbook approach to provide lists, forms, policies, procedures, and other components of a methodology.The book is written primarily for data processing professionals who are involved with the management of data processing projects: Project Managers,Data Processing Managers, and their supporting staffs.
