The focus of this book is to provide guidelines on how to identify potential hazards in the workplace by carefully observing the employee at work and examining the workplace. To accomplish this task, the book provides detailed discussion of how to conduct job observations and how to recognize the sources of injuries. The book includes sample JHA forms and directions for properly recording the basic steps, hazards, and analysis of a job.Completed JHAs for common jobs are also included. These should guide the reader in completing their own JHAs.
The photographs in this book of each job step will aid in understanding the JHA process by providing a step-by-step view of the job tasks. Photographing or videotaping job tasks is very useful. It can reveal much more than the eye can take in during a brief observation. Also, since JHAs are an excellent resource for employee training, photographs and videos of job tasks are effective training resources.
