The Honor of the Name by Emile Gaboriau is all the backstory of Monsieur Lecoq. As usual, the second book of Gaboriau's is stronger, because you watch the lines being gathered in. There is so much history and hatred that nothing is truly resolved until the last bit. Lots of Restoration antics and outcries and worry woven in as well. The intricate plot, since it is well written and detailed, is easily comprehensible and readers enjoy the story to the fullest. The sentences seem to be pulling the readers along to the mystery which continues to become more complex with the progression of the story.
