Passive Optical Networks

Description

Theadvent of video-on-demand and interactive gaming has prompted thedeployment of broadband infrastructures. Because of its largebandwidth, Passive Optical Networks (PONs) are seen as the technologyto make this happen. However, there are numerous standards andtechnologies - EPON, BPON, GPON, APON, WDM-PON, TDM-PON - whichnetwork providers and device manufacturers need to know of andunderstand when developing their products. There are no books focusedspecifically on the technology of PONs.
