Thisbook has two primary objectives: (1) to define and describe theessentials of project and systems engineering management, and (2) toshow the relationship and interconnection between project managementand systems engineering.it deals with a variety of methods fordesigning and building a system that are independent of the domain ofthe system itself. Slowly, but noticeably, systems engineering isfinding its way into a greater number of college curricula and takingits place alongside the more traditional engineering disciplines suchas electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and the like.Moreoften than not, systems engineering is carried out in the real worldin the context of a project. A typical scenario is that a companymight set up a project whose basic purpose is to systems engineersome type of system. Thus, there is almost always a strong connectionbetween project management and systems engineering, whether it isformally recognized or not. Many students have asked about this oftenmurky connection during my courses in systems engineering.
