CDMA Systems Engineering Handbook

Description

This book is written for those who are interested in learning all about the technical basis of the design and the operational principles of the IS-95 CDMA cellular system and of related personal communication services (PCS) systems, such as the one specified as the standard JSTD-008. These CDMA communications systems are spread-spectrum systems and make use of most of the modern communication and information-theoretic techniques that have so far been discovered by so many scientists and engineers.

The primary objective of this book is to explain in a tutorial manner the technical elements of these remarkable wireless communication systems from the ground level up. The book also provides in the beginning chapter all the tools, in the form of systems analysis basics, for those who need them to understand the main flow of the text in the succeeding chapters. The authors have generated many problems, each with a solution, to aid the reader in gaining clear and complete understanding of the subjects presented. In order to keep the reader’s attention focused on the main flow of the discussion, where necessary, involved mathematical derivations are put into an appendix in each chapter.
